Today 40 sailors and 10 Airmen took all day to get there Army "Battle Rattle" gear issued. Boy was it hot. We were lucky to get water the first 4 hours and then we had a break for lunch. When we return inteh mid afternoon hour and we asked for more water to have our weapons issued- we were initalled told "water is a crutch"! Yeah, that didnt work to well for Navy Nurses as an answer- or at least for me. Needless to say we got water but it took another 45mins. Unbelievable. Very hot. Heard it was cooling a bit more than last class. Well- I call it acclimating to the weather- preparing for Afghanistan.
The other big news today was I finally found a contact for whom I am replacing. I have sent an email. No reply since it was before I started this blog site. However, we did find out that we are going to the North West region of Afghanistan- in the mountains. I do know where but I can not say- OPSEC you know! Needless to say- it cant be a favorite spot. I am waiting for my word on the conditions. So stay tuned.
I will figure out how to post more pictures as I evolve. My background is of me with my M-4 rifle and M9 hand gun issued today. Look in my right hand closely and you will see it. It is in pretty good condition considering. K+
