The past two days we have been divided up in our class and have gone through regular Humvee and MRAT driving. (MRAPS are the new underbody armor Vehicles in the box).I am really glad I didnt volunteer to stay behind- this particular hands up was for the Humvee drivers- suprise that was a great volunteer move- Because our classes were shorter and smaller personnel so our days have been done sooner! We went through the HEAT training with this one instead of he MONSTER MRAP... thats where they fill up the vehicle and then flip it with us in it with full body armor and then a bunch of loose rubber items rolling around hitting you- then they stop it up side down and say- EGRESS! or Get out! and you get the door open then you brace and unfasten your sieat belts and FALL out! Its fun...at least it was for me.
SO- being done quicker meant I was able to wach my clothes tonight. Not to bad since I spent all day out there and no lunch unitl 1430 when they gave us an MRE- but I waited for dinner at 1700. Saved my MRE for a real rainy day. Anyway- then we had our NVG's issued- night vision goggles was pretty intense driving. With the "black out lights on" and just our NVGs- wow- all I can say- what an expereince to have those things on. We had the day time course where we were able to take it through an obstacle course as well as the stadard driving course which is in the WOODS of Ft Polk and that was also the Night time course-SCAREY!
Anyway- the obstacle course was great. I was nervoursw making hte incline ramp up with out tipping it or flying over the other side- with my teammates in toe. They did have a MRAP accident months ago where a student rolled it- with the instructor inside and everything. No worries it was only $100,000 in damage- no casulaties- and the female Sailor still went forward- without an "IOU". So- guess I am clear.
Then we spent hours... literally Hours doing GRID draw- which means we had all our vehicles and our weapons for each one- as in teh M240 MAchine gun- replaced the M90... anyway...Tons of stuff we dont even know yet what it is and where it goes. It is like trying to put the largest puzzle together you can imagine- with missing pieces. Hhaha!
If anyone is interested in becoming an FB friend to see all my pictures- you must give me the email that you use so I can find you- because I am not searchable- I just cant post them on this blog- I dont get it. and I dont have time to figure it out! opps- so sorry there are two places to check if intersted.
I also know now my FOB is smaller than most with very LIMITED anything to be had. Shold be interesting. I think I might loose more weight than imaginable- since I wont have to worry about eating lot of bad excess food in my diet.
Well- I need to go and try and finish loading my FB download- then we have a "suprise" Golden Flow in about 25 minutes tonight. Have no fear... I will pass this test with Flying Colors! lol. KTG+
